Older residents who are homebound in Wood County who are 60 plus may be eligible for our Home Delivered Meals program. Wood County Senior Citizens Association, Inc. provides home delivered, nutritious, shelf-sustainable meals to those in need. Each week 5 delicious meals are delivered for daily nutrition. These meals require no preparation. If you or your loved one is in need of meals delivered to the home, is a resident of wood county, and is 60 or better, we welcome you to apply.
Local residents who are 60 and better can qualify for this Home Delivered Meals Program. This valuable meal program offers at least five meals per week for eligible individuals. To receive meals, you must:
1. Be over 60 years of age
2. Be homebound** (unable to eat meals at our senior centers) and unable to meet basic nutritional needs** either temporarily or long term
3. Have no other reliable means of obtaining your daily meals
4. Reside in our service area (Wood County, WV,)
**Homebound: Unable to leave the home without considerable difficulty and/or assistance. A person may leave home for medical treatment or short/infrequent absences for non-medical reasons, such as a trip to the barber or to attend religious services, etc.
**Unable to meet basic nutritional needs: Unable to prepare/have difficulty preparing at least one nutritious meal daily because of physical or mental limitations, or unable to obtain/have difficulty obtaining necessary food.
A suggested contribution per meal is calculated based on income; however, no one is turned away due to inability to pay.
